Tips for Teaching English to Kids
"Make It Fun and Simple"
Teaching English to children can be quite a challenge—but at Rumah Literasi Kreatif, it’s always filled with laughter, color, and creativity. The secret lies in two simple words: fun and simple.
1. Connect Lessons with Their Everyday World
Children learn faster when lessons relate to things they already know. In our classes, teachers often use “Show and Tell” with objects around the reading garden—like books, colored pencils, or dolls. Through these familiar items, kids learn new vocabulary and gain confidence to speak in front of others.
2. Sing and Move Together
Music is a magical bridge to language learning. Songs like Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes or If You’re Happy and You Know It are always favorites here. When kids sing and move along, they remember words more naturally. It feels more like playing than studying—and that’s exactly the point.
3. Use Visuals and Colors
In every class, teachers use colorful flashcards, word cards, and pictures. Visuals help children connect words with images and meanings. Sometimes, the kids even create their own flashcards! This creative process strengthens memory and sparks imagination.
4. Tell Stories and Act Them Out
Storytime is one of the best ways to teach English. At Rumah Literasi Kreatif, we often do short drama plays based on simple stories like The Hungry Caterpillar or Little Red Riding Hood. Role-playing helps children practice pronunciation, teamwork, and comprehension—all while having fun.
5. Give Praise and Positive Support
Children learn best when they feel appreciated. Every time a student says a new word or forms a sentence, we celebrate with claps or a little star sticker. Positive feedback builds confidence and teaches them that making mistakes is part of learning.
At Rumah Literasi Kreatif, our English class is more than just a place to learn a language—it’s a joyful space for creativity, curiosity, and growth.
Here, children discover that English isn’t something to be afraid of—it’s a bridge to explore a bigger, brighter world.
Because learning is always beautiful when it comes from a happy heart.
